Using microos as a virtualization/lxc host with incus.
C. Miller
I am a developer based in Japan, who currently teaches programming to elementary and junior high school students, alongside various independent development work.
I have a keen interest in OpenSuse MicroOS, along with some other projects such as Nix, Incus/LXC, and Clear Linux.
No video of the event yet, sorry!
This talk will focus on showing what can be done with lxc/incus on MicroOS.
I will start with a brief introduction of MicroOS, and why I believe it to be a great virtualization/lxc container host. Essentially highlighting the advantages of atomic updates, immutability, btrfs, rollbacks, and the philosophy of using it to achieve only one purpose.
I will then introduce Incus and show how it makes it very easy to create virtual machines, as well as linux containers which act as virtual machines.
I will use podman to set up incus with my container image, configure it, and launch some containers and virtual machines, highlighting how easy it is to set up containers/VMs of most distributions.
I might mention how nice it would be to have incus officially packaged for OpenSuse.
At the end, I will take questions.
