Nikita was a mechanical engineering student at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and she is an avid open source design contributor. Her journey began as an Outreachy summer intern at Fedora in 2022, where she worked for the Fedora Badges Design Project. She further worked with Software Freedom Conservancy as a graphic designer and brand designer for their first open-source event: FOSSY 2023 & 2024.

She has explored open-source design softwares like Blender, Krita, Inkscape and Penpot.
