In any organization, several open source projects are typically running concurrently. In order to identify the relationships among those projects, a common approach is to is to establish a project portfolio and/ or a programme management structure. This assists in identifying common objectives for the business organization, identifying and managing risk, and identifying resource connections.

All open source projects require governance structures, policies and procedures, and specific control mechanisms to ensure strategic and tactical alignment with the organization's respective goals, objectives and risk management strategy. Without proper governance, all aspects of a project may be compromised. Open source project governance structures should involve the project and the functional line organization.

Join Elisha in this presentation to learn more about all governance decisions about open source projects that should be driven through the business case, and there must be periodic review of the benefits achieved.
