This workshop will be lead by Pavel Polach.

This practical workshop will be about developing with TROPIC01, the first open secure element.

Outcome of this workshop: New TROPIC01 USB devkit for developing secure solutions: You will get working USB device, ready to be used to harden various authentication protocols by offloading crypto operations to TROPIC01 cryptography chip (key generation, key storage, encrypted storage, Ed25519, P256, RNG and unique pin verification engine called Mac And Destroy)

Real-World Demos: We’ll show simple, working demos of a Secure Boot flow and a basic HSM built on top of TROPIC01. These aren’t meant to be polished products—they’re lightweight reference implementations meant to spark ideas, show what’s possible, and help you kickstart your own builds. If you’re exploring secure identity, key storage, or trusted execution at the edge, this is a solid place to start.

Number of available devkits is limited and they will be distributed at the beginning of workshop to those, who will show their ability to compile repository with devkit's firmware.

Why you should care? TROPIC01 is the first secure cryptography chip with architecture opened down to silicon level - that means our chip is auditable in the similar way as open source software. Discover why the synergy of open hardware and open software is essential for creating robust, security-by-design solutions.

To get more into the context of what TROPIC01 is about, we recommend watching Jan Pleskac keynote on “Open Source is no longer just for software: Why the community needs open source hardware to ensure security” (27th 13:00 CET), where we also share link to firmware repo.
