from SUSE Linux

I am a Software Engineer based in Australia, I have been working on openSUSE for 6 years maintaining the Enlightenment desktop and several other packages, I have also been active in the community both on IRC and mailing lists, in more recent times I have also become a member of the package review team. I have spent the last year working at SUSE as a packager and outside of this have interests in topics such as desktop design as well as robotics and electronics.

No video of the event yet, sorry!

Back from when I first started computing with windows 95 when I was 7 customising and tweeking my desktop has always been one of my favorite things. This is something that I carried on when I started using Linux, first by customising gtk themes and then moving onto enlightenment.

In this talk i'll spend some time both looking at the different ways you can customise Linux desktops but I will also walk you through creating and modifying themes for both gtk based desktops and enlightenment as well as looking at other apps such as conky and variety that can improve the look of your Linux desktop.

I'll also share some hints around making applications from different desktop environments work together from a theming and design perspective.

Finally i'll share some of my favorite assets, icons, themes and wallpapers etc, as well as the best locations to go searching for yourself
