Ceph - The Distributed Storage Solution
Isn't a single NAS system sufficient?
by Kai Wagner
I'm a Product Owner at SUSE, responsible for SUSE Linux Enterprise Storage.
Before joining SUSE I was a administrator and consultant at it-novum GmbH, a German Open Source minded consulting company.
I have been working on Windows & Linux, Virtualization, High Availability, Storage and Networking. I'm also one of the founder of the openATTIC
project which turned from a pure storage management platform to a Ceph cluster and monitoring interface. If I'm not working all day long I really enjoy
to do some sports and to play with my kids.
You want to learn more about distributed storage solutions and in particular about Ceph? In this talk I would like to give you a quick introduction about distributed storage and Ceph at a glance. What is it? Why is it useful? Why do I need it? Isn't a single NAS system suffiecient?
Who should join?
Everyone who uses storage :-)
What is Ceph?
Ceph’s foundation is the Reliable Autonomic Distributed Object Store (RADOS), which provides your applications with object, block, and file system storage in a single unified storage cluster—making Ceph flexible, highly reliable and easy for you to manage.
